From the Ground Up is a bakery of no fixed address operated by one endlessly tinkering baker. I produce whole-grain, naturally-leavened breads using only grain grown in Ontario by farmers following regenerative and organic farming practices. The grain is milled as close to baking as possible to preserve the nutrition and flavour, and the breads are all mixed and shaped by hand.
BLB & Co. was started as an outlet to express founder Stuart Li’s Hong Kong heritage fused with the experience of growing up in the multicultural city of Toronto. BLB stands for Bo Lo Bao aka Hong Kong “PIneapple” Buns – except they don’t have PIneapples in them, the name comes from the crackled appearance of the crust. It’s our signature product and we level it up a notch with flavoured crusts and fillings like Chocolate Hazelnut or Almond Frangipane for example. Along with BLBs,we create other Asian inspired breads and treats fused with North American or European traditions – case in point our Yuzu Miso Buttertart is a unique take on a Canadian classic! We source Canadian and Ontario ingredients when possible, and all flours, grains and dairy products are Canadian.

Our dips follow 100% authentic recipes, are vegan friendly, use local ingredients when in season and are packaged in compostable containers.
