Market Day – June 1st

We’re back in action every Saturday May 25th to November 2nd, and there is an exciting rotation of vendors lined up for you. Stop by the Junction Train Platform between 9 am-1 pm for your fresh local goods.

This week, get your homegrown veggies, mushrooms and meat from our wonderful local farmers: Fiddlehead Farm, Kendal Hills Farm, Oakridges Finest, Twin Creeks Farm, Willo’ Wind Farm, and Wheelbarrow Farm. Check out the other abundant local delights to take home with you: honey and specialty products from Emily Rose Apiaries, organic artisan breads and pastries from de la terre bakery, goat and buffalo cheese from the Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Company.

Alongside our amazing weekly vendors (which you can learn more about on our website), this week we have some exciting pop-up and rotating vendors! This week we welcome Little Almond Baking and their grain-free deliciousness. Baked with almond flour and other nut flours, their tasty delights are low carb while rich in flavour!  Pair that with a fresh loaf from bi-weekly vendor Robinson Bread and an organic Niagara wine or cider from Tawse Winery…ah, the makings of a perfect warm-weather dinner! Top it all off with a Sweet Seduction treat!

In the Community Corner….

Music to your ears – In 2010, a year after major aortic-valve replacement surgery, Patrick O’Neill began to teach himself to play the 5-row Chromatic Button Accordion. His repertoire ranges widely including Canadian (30%), Irish, English, & Scottish airs, waltzes, reels, jigs & hornpipes, Scandinavian vals & polskas, Playford dance tunes, new (and older) French musettes & Tangos. Make sure to check out Patrick’s performance at the market!

At the Community Table – This week, we welcome Toronto Clothing Repairathon! Bring your favourite clothing items in need of a little TLC to the Train Platform. Their talented volunteers will get to work at bringing new life to your wardrobe favs by repairing tears, zippers or perhaps a lost button! You’ll be helping Toronto Clothing Repairathon achieve their goals of:

  • To promote and enable maintenance and repair; in general, and of clothing in particular.
  • To encourage the teaching and learning of repair skills
  • To reduce waste and keep clothing out of the garbage
  • To encourage people to value their clothing
  • To increase the social acceptance of wearing repaired clothing
  • To build community
  • To have FUN!
